I'm turning this into a repository of all my kraken/windigo-related poetry!
Background:
On Thanksgiving, 2006, my cousin brought a short story she'd written for school to the annual Thanksgiving get-together. It was about the rest of the cousins, as well as some of the aunts and uncles and our grandmother. In the story, we were at the farm for Thanksgiving, when a windigo attacked. Little did she realize that this story would become such a part of our lives... But within a few hours, we had come up with the first songs, quoted a lot of lines, invented a couple new card games, and started talking about a possible musical.
Further background:
During the summer of 2006, a group of travellers set out for the BWCA. They were two brothers, the three children of one and the one of the other, and an exchange student. It was soon after Pirates II had come out, and the girls were eager to talk about it. This led to the introduction of the Lake Kraken (also the Superior Kraken), the Land Kraken, and the Flying Kraken (the latter thanks to the exchange student; he learned fast!).
Now I send postcards about these beasts, and it seems a shame that my ...... creative rhymes should all be lost. So I'm storing them here!
